Croft Crafts
66 Gartymore Timberworks is run by Sam Harrison. Based on his croft in the North of the Highlands, near the village of Helmsdale, the whole process happens there, from tree to finished product.
The Highlands still has some native forest, and also produces a range of slow grown sustainable timber. Often coming from steep hillsides and windy wet places, the wood has a story to tell with wavy grain and great colours. There is nothing better than working together to raise a timber frame.
A shelter in a community space can bring it all together. In 2022 we built a shelter for the Culbokie Community Trust. The raising was really well attended and a lot of fun.
